Dear Sisters in the Province
In my Provincial Week message, mention was made of an international “Global Moment” on 31st May which joins the rest of the Anglican Church for “Thy Kingdom Come”. As part of Mothers’ Union engagement with this global prayer movement, a number of resources have been produced including special midday prayers for its duration. These are available on the Worldwide Mothers’ Union website www.mothersunion.org
What is it about?
Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement, which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus Christ. Further information can be found here: www.thykingdomcome.global or here: www.mothersunion.org/ThyKingdomCome
How can we get involved?
Resources have been edited for Mothers’ Union on our website (follow the second link above), or more is available on the official website for Churches, Individuals and Families (first link above).
Global Moment On the 31st of May, at 2pm (BST) in Hull, UK, there will be a special Service led by Lynne Tembey, our Worldwide President, and the Bishop of Whitby Paul Ferguson. This Service will be made available for all to join online through a live stream, for those unable to join an event in their own area. Further details to follow.
We have been contacted by the Archbishop of Canterbury’s office as they are very excited at the idea that Mothers’ Union could be involved in this around the world. They have asked if any Provinces, Dioceses, Churches or community groups from Mothers’ Union around the world are already planning any events for Thy Kingdom Come. They would love to feature these events and show how involved Mothers’ Union is across the globe. I must say that Mary Sumner House is, as ever, very keen on the same information as well as any pictures during Thy Kingdom Come.
I ask you to share this information with all Mothers’ Union members and congregations in your Diocese.
